Sign up your team for the 17th “Baltais” Milk Pack Boat Regatta

Friends, colleagues and families are welcome to apply for the participation in one of the most entertaining, courageous and creative events in the city of Jelgava -  “Milk Pack Boat Regatta” presented by “Baltais” which will take place on 31st of August and is notable for being  the only competition of this kind in Europe. Participants are welcome to apply free of charge (no entry fee) until 25th of August.

During the regatta, teams will not only compete at speed race, but also their level of creativity and cohesion. Boats are a product of unique craftmanship and free interpretation of each team, limited by competition rule, that foresees the boats to be human – operated. The use of electricity, fuel and other energy sources for the boat to move forward is not permitted. Additionally, the use of foam rubber or any other plastic – based foams to ensure the buoyancy of boats is not permitted.  See full regulation of the event here.

You don’t have to be a rowing athlete to participate and win, as the main criteria for determination of the winner will be creativity and the attractiveness of the teams. The authors of the best boats will be rewarded in eight nominations: “The Most Original Boat”, “The Most Innovative Boat”, “The Thickest Milk Raft”, “The Most Attractive Team”, “Complete Butter”, “The Greatest Crew”, “The Fastest Boat”, and the “Jury's Special Award”.

“Milk Pack Boat Regatta”, as usual, will take place in conjunction with the traditional General Festival of Milk, Bread and Honey, which brings together masters from all the municipalities of Latvia at Duke Jacob’s Square. The gourmands will have the opportunity not only to buy products, but also to participate in tastings and fancy culinary contests. Whereas, in the square behind the Cultural House, the third “Festival of Wellbeing ESI” will educate the visitors on healthy lifestyle.

The main building material for the boats will be provided by the enterprise AS “Tukuma piens” by allocating at least 2000 pieces of 1L milk “Baltais” packs to each team.
