Introducing Latvian European Youth Olympics team

Yesterday (17th July) was presented Latvian youth team, which will participate in the European Youth Olympics in the capital of Azerbaijan Baku. Amongst all the 34 Latvian athletes in the delegation, Jelgava’s athlete Māra Anna Zīverte was also included.

Most of the athletes will compete in the track and field disciplines – 11, 8 of our young talents will enter the Judo competition, cycling discipline will be represented by 6 athletes, 3 will compete in wrestling, while two athletes from Latvia will be represented in gymnastics, swimming and tennis.

 

The 15th European Youth Olympics will take place from 21st to 27th of July. During the opening ceremony on 21st of July, the Latvian flag will be carried by the javelin thrower Una Dolgiļeviča.

 

Young athletes from 50 European countries from the age of 14 up to 18 will test their skills in the Youth Olympics. The Latvian team consisting of 34 athletes will participate in seven of ten sports disciplines represented in the games.
