The water quality inspection carried out by the Zemgale Control Division of the Public Health Department of the Health Inspection on 7 June shows that the water quality in the official swimming areas of Jelgava – Lielupe right bank and Pasta Island – meets the requirements and swimming is allowed there.

It should be noted that on June 14, mowing of seaweed and reeds was started in the Lielupe left bank beach area on Pasta Island and in the right bank beach area to ensure convenient use of the water area for swimming, water transport and to create a more attractive recreation area.

On June 15, the water temperature in Lielupe reached +19, +21 degrees, reports the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

The Health Inspection monitors the quality of water once a month to ensure that recreation by the water and swimming are safe. The measurements are available on the website www.vi.gov.lv.
