On June 6, in Jelgava at the “Zemgale” sports complex next to the Jelgava Ice Hall, a large-scale and inspiring event – the Children and Youth Technology Festival – will be held for the second time. It will bring together school pupils, students, teachers, families, and technology enthusiasts from across Latvia and neighboring countries. It will be a day where creativity, science, engineering, and young people’s courage to create come together. Registration for festival activities is now open.
YOUNG ENGINEERS WILL MEET FOR THE FOURTH TIME
The central event of the festival is the Energy Efficiency Competition, open to students from grades 4–12 of general education schools, vocational education institutions, and university students. These competitions are being held in Jelgava for the fourth time. Participants will compete with self-built electric vehicle prototypes—vehicles created through long-term work, experimentation, and teamwork. The competition will include several disciplines: drag racing, braking efficiency tests, maneuvering challenges, an eco lap, and a mass start. In addition to practical driving, teams will also test their theoretical knowledge in a technical solutions test, evaluating STEM and automotive engineering skills. These competitions not only assess technical readiness but also teach planning, analysis, and teamwork. Register your team by May 15 via the E-ES link.
THE TECHNICAL CREATIVE WORKS EXHIBITION WILL BRING TOGETHER MULTIPLE SCHOOLS
Equally impressive will be the Technical Creative Works Exhibition, where around 150 students, together with their families, will showcase independently developed projects. These projects can vary widely—from simple mechanical models to complex electronic constructions. A wide range of materials is used, including cardboard, wood, metal, plastic, glass, LEGO parts, electronic components, and other solutions. The exhibition demonstrates how much can be achieved with ideas, persistence, and creativity. To apply for the exhibition, register by June 1 for the Technical Creative Works Exhibition 2026.
ZEMGALE REGIONAL ROUND OF THE LATVIAN ROBOTICS CHAMPIONSHIP
During the festival, the Zemgale regional round of the Latvian Robotics Championship will also take place in Jelgava, bringing together young technology enthusiasts of various age groups. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in more than ten exciting disciplines, including line following, LEGO and Mini Sumo, robot combat in different weight categories, open design competitions, and drone disciplines. Participants from all Baltic countries are invited, promising an international atmosphere and the opportunity to see how technology develops beyond Latvia. Registration for the Robotics Championship is open until May 15.
TEST YOUR LOGICAL THINKING IN RUBIK’S CUBE COMPETITIONS
The festival program will also feature Rubik’s Cube speed-solving competitions, bringing together both beginners and experienced puzzle enthusiasts. Participants can compete in several categories: 3×3, 2×2, 4×4, Clock, Skewb, Pyraminx, and 3×3 one-handed. This is an opportunity to test logical thinking, speed, and concentration. Everyone is invited not only to participate but also to watch the competitions in person and experience the real excitement, where professional cubers demonstrate impressive speed, precision, and focus—where every second counts. To register, fill out the application form by May 28.
WE WELCOME NOT ONLY PARTICIPANTS BUT ALSO VISITORS
The festival will also offer many other activities—science shows, creative workshops, demonstrations, youth stage performances, improvisational theatre competitions, and opportunities to try out technologies firsthand. It is a great opportunity for both participants and visitors to see how what is learned in school turns into real solutions and exciting projects.
