The first baby born in 2026 at Jelgava City Hospital is a boy, Māris. The new resident of Jelgava came into the world on January 4 at 5:08 a.m. The baby weighed 2,800 grams and was 54 centimeters long. The previous year, 2025, concluded at Jelgava Hospital with a total of 576 newborns.

The Maternity and Gynecology Department of Jelgava City Hospital reports that in the past year 40 children were born in January, 49 in February, 49 in March, 57 in April, 40 in May, 41 in June, 54 in July, 55 in August, 56 in September, 50 in October, 43 in November, and at the end of the year, in December, 42 babies were born at the hospital.
