Latvian Plant Days in Jelgava – this week, May 10–11

On May 10 and 11, Latvian Plant Days 2025 will take place in Duke Jēkabs Square and the park behind the Jelgava Culture House, bringing together over 230 vendors from across Latvia. This event is a great opportunity for both experienced gardeners and anyone looking to bring more life, color, and beauty to their environment, to meet growers in person, receive valuable advice, and get inspired for the new gardening season.

On Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm, visitors will be able to purchase seedlings, flower bulbs, seeds, herbs, soil improvers, garden tools, equipment, furniture and decor, as well as garden architecture and landscape design solutions. Additionally, there will be handcrafted goods, work clothes and local delicacies while for the youngest visitors – attractions and a mini zoo.

On Sunday – Mother’s Day – everyone is invited to a heartwarming concert dedicated to Mother’s Day at the Jelgava Culture House. Starting at 10 a.m., the stage will come alive with vibrant folk dances performed by local cultural groups from the Jelgava municipal institution “Kultūra,” including the senior dance group “Ex.Lielupe,” folk dance ensembles “Jaunība,” “Lielupe,” middle-generation dance groups “Laipa” and “Rota,” and the senior dance group “Ozolnieki” from Ozolnieki Parish.

Drivers heading to the event are invited to park at the designated lot on Pilssalas Street 1, in the meadow opposite Jelgava Palace, which will be specially arranged for visitors during the event, as well as elsewhere in the city.

Please note: From Friday, May 9 at 12 noon, traffic restrictions will be in place around Duke Jēkabs Square. On Saturday and Sunday, Krišjāņa Barona Street will be closed between Pasta and Uzvaras streets.
