The Jelgava Night Half-Marathon will take place on August 22. New routes have been created this year, and race participants already have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with them.

This year, a new route has been designed that will lead through the city on the left bank of the Lielupe River—giving participants a chance to see new parts of the city. The 10-kilometer distance will consist of a single loop, while the half-marathon will be two loops. The event center will be located on Pasta Island, with the start line on Jānis Čakste Boulevard. The course will run along Zemgale Prospect, Katoļu Street, Lielā Street, Atmodas Street, Lapskalna Street, through Uzvara Park, and around Jelgava Palace. The distances will be the same as years prior: a kids’ run, a 1-mile run (both timed and untimed), 5 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and the half-marathon.

Significant traffic restrictions will be in place in the city during the Jelgava Night Half-Marathon.

As a reminder, Jelgava city records will be officially registered during the event for the 5 km, 10 km, and half-marathon distances in the U-18, U-20, and adult categories. Prizes are also set aside for the fastest local Jelgava residents—the top three men and top three women overall in the 5 km, 10 km, or half-marathon distances, calculated by converting results into World Athletics scoring points.

Currently, around 1,900 participants have registered across all distances combined. Registration remains open.

Schedule

  • 19:45 — Start for the 1-mile run
  • 20:15 — Start for the kids’ run
  • 21:15 — Start for the half-marathon distance (also considered the Latvian Championship)
  • 22:40 — Start for the 5 km and 10 km distances

The event is organized by the association “Baltic Events” in cooperation with the Sports Service Center, SIA “Sportland”, and the sports club “Sportlat”.

The Jelgava Night Half-Marathon has been held since 2014, with a hiatus during the pandemic. Last year, it brought together 4,027 participants.
